A well deserved break followed after all the shopping. Luckily there was enough options available where one could “chill out”… Families sat on the grass enjoying snacks and friends gathered together under the lunch tent’s shade while sipping on the range of D’Aria wines on offer.
After a last few purchases including preserved apricots and homemade lemonade – it was time to bid the Fair …… Farewell
If you missed out this time around, do not make the same mistake next year!

Boeremusiek was a wild, untamed genre full of influences from across the entire continent and beyond – including Jazz, ghoema and marabi. The music came out of the working class and its heroes were miners and railway workers – and none more incendiary then David de Lange, whose career blazed for a brief six years.
In the 1930′s de Lange was by far the most famous Afrikaans singer in the country. His first huge hit was “Waar is Moeder?” (1934) and he was the first person to introduce “Suikerbossie” to a wide audience. But when de Lange died in 1947 at the untimely age of 41, not one Afrikaans newspaper reported his death. So what went wrong?
De Lange was a rebel. The so-called decent Afrikaners made De Lange out as an embarrassment, a poor white mineworker who did not fit the profile of what the establishment wanted Afrikaners to become and his records were banned by the SABC.
De Lange became a broken man, never recovering from the hurt the establishment put him through. When De Lange died, something wild and untamable in the Afrikaner died with him, and boeremusiek became sterile. Now De Lange’s music is being revived by the popular Radio Kalahari Orkes.
Earthy and genuine, the music of De Lange is the perfect vehicle for Radio Kalahari Orkes. With their album DIE NAGLOPER, they gave De Lange’s songs a fresh treatment, re-tuned for the contemporary ear, whilst embracing the core influences and spirit of De Lange. With Wynand Dawel on violin,Kaartji Davids on banjo, Michael Canfield on drums and ‘kartondoos’, and Rian Malan on baritone guitar, fronted by singers Ian Roberts, Elton Landrew and Christine Roberts – the music kicks and swings like a living thing.
Far from resting on their laurels, the members of the Radio Kalahari Orkes have been burning the midnight oil making movies and broadcasting music till the cows come home. They’ve been collaborating with Valiant Swart and Chris Chameleon and even joined Jack Parow at Oppikoppi 2010. Radio Kalahari Orkes have had a series of hits ( Kaptein Kaptein, Staan My By) and top-selling albums (“Opgestook” and “Heuningland”).

At 09h00 the ladies started to arrive!
Stunning gifts awaited each one of us on our seats, including a make-up bag, advanced night repair cream, resilience lift firming eye cream, sumptuous extreme mascara and pure colour lip gloss! Things could not get any better, I was sold!
The Estee Lauder staff then informed us on the application of certain products and how to get the best out of your beauty routine when applying a number of products, quite impressive. Most important we were made aware of the Estee Lauder breast cancer awareness campaign (www.facebook.com/BCACampaign) and how we can contribute.
Ike Moriz (www.ikemoriz.com) with his creamy voice sang a number of classic songs which topped the morning off perfectly.
As always D’Aria served a sumptuous breakfast including yoghurt and muesli in a decadent wine glass, various pastries and ended off with a warm buffet.
Various products including new additions and a number of perfumes were on display and could be purchased, making shopping very convenient and easy.
Good food, wonderful entertainment and Estee Lauder (www.esteelauder.co.za), what more can a lady ask for! It was time to go home……..we cannot wait for the next Estee Lauder morning.
